Single direction cylindrical roller thrust bearings are designed to accommodate heavy axial loads and peak loads in one direction. They must not be subjected to any radial load. The bearings provide a high degree of stiffness and require little axial space. To accommodate axial loads in both directions, a double direction bearing can be created by combining two cylindrical roller and cage thrust assemblies and two bearing washers with an intermediate washer.
